The 230th China’s Engineering and Science & Technology Form was held in LZU from Sept. 27th to 28th. It was hosted by Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and sponsored by National Key Laboratory of Pastoral Agricultural Ecological System, School of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology of LZU and National Research Center of Pastoral Development Strategy. The forum was themed as “Pastoral Agriculture, Food Safety and Eco Security”, and chaired by Pro. Nan Zhibiao from LZU, an academician from the CAE.
The opening ceremony was attended by Liu Xu, academician and vice president of CAE; Wang Cheng, President of LZU; Wang Guangqian, academician from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and President of Qinghai University; Prof. Ren Jizhou and Prof. Nan Zhibiao of LZU, academicians from CAE; Prof. Xiang Zhonghuai from Southeast University, Prof. Huang Jikun from Peking University; Wang Bin, and vice director general of Gansu Provincial Sci. & Tec. Department.
President Wang pointed out that under the guidance of Prof. Ren and Prof. Zhou, School of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology, a distinct and proponent school in LZU with its National Key Laboratory, has achieved various landmark results. The school has demonstrated its solid foundation and strengths in the field, and therefore pushed the discipline and industry of pratacultural science forward not only in the country, but also in the world. He added that the forum would probe into the function of pastoral agriculture in securing food safety and ecological securitynationwide, so as to seek solutions to the problems existing in the transformation of agricultural structure and pastoral agricultural development. He also noted that further communication and cooperation among the attendees were expected to facilitate the development of pastoral science and agriculture.
The China’s Engineering and Science & Technology Forum was first held in the year of 2000. Since its establishment, 229 forums in total have been held, exerting widespread influence. It has now become an important platform for scientists and technicians in the domainto showcase and exchange their scientificoutcomes , and to discuss and guide the future of science and technology.
