The opening ceremony of seventy-year anniversary and series of academic activities of School of Life Sciences, Lanzhou University (LZU) was held at students’ activity center on the morning of 24th, August.
In the address, President Wang Cheng expressed his appreciation on the fruits achieved by School of Life Sciences, Lanzhou University (LZU) and put forward four suggestions. First, summary past experience on building this school and dig more potential. School of Life Sciences should follow the university plan of the “Two World-Classes (worldclass university and world class subjects)” construction, so that strategic plan in subjects distribution could be strengthened. Second, Continue to optimize talents cultivation so as to have more talents contributed to life sciences of our nation. Third, focus original innovation capability , so that teachers and students could be actually climbers of sciences, motivators of national and regional development and contributors of society. Last but not least, achieve more in teaching and scientific research and develop all-round students to be pillars of the country.
Li Jia, dean of School of Life Sciences, gave a report on current school development situations, and expressed the school’s will to stick to distinct features and advantages lasted for seventy years to seize strategic opportunities, so that three subject groups can be further developed. Furthermore, the school would be more open-minded and cooperative to strengthen scientific studies and improve teaching qualities.
To celebrate the seventy-year anniversary of School of Life Sciences, series of academic activities were held. On the afternoon of 24th, August, alumni participated in discussion session and friendly matches with teachers and students in school. On the evening of the same day, the theatrical performance was held in the central hall of students’ activity center. Moreover, the fifth Chinese Ecological Assembly was undertaken by School of Life Sciences from 26th to 27th, August.
