The opening ceremony of 2016 undergraduates and military training was held in Yuzhong campus, Kunlun plaza of Lanzhou University (LZU) at 8:30 on the morning of September 1st.
The national flag raised slowly with stately national anthem with all units’ attention. Party Secretary Yuan Zhanting solemnly announced the opening ceremony of 2016 undergraduates and military training officially began, and conferred the military training flag to the participation units.
President Wang Cheng delivered a speech entitled “Be the best LZUer”, extended warm welcome to the 4724 freshmen from 31 provinces of our nation, and expressed deep respect to parents and teachers cultivating the students. He introduced the remarkable achievements made by Lanzhou University and put forward new expectations: first of all, to be an ambitious and responsible LZUer. Students would achieve their career and realize the value of life on the stage of building an innovative country and a well-off society in an all-round way with their ideals, historical mission and social responsibility. Second, to be a constantly improving and perseverant LZUer. Students should be self-reliant and optimistic, brave, and perseverant Third, to be a diligent and practical LZUer. Students should learn the basic knowledge carefully, and pay attention to life experience and social learning to strengthen the ability in practice. Last but not least, to be an actively enterprising, and innovated LZUer. Students would experience much richer and more colorful lifer in the process of innovating and pioneering.
Participants in the opening ceremony included main leaders of LZU, members of leading group of national defense education work, members of leading group of 2016 undergraduate orientation work, the college principals, full-time personnel of students’ work, military instructors, teachers and 2016 undergraduates.
