University union of “Belt and Road Initiative” held forum in Dunhuang

The specialty group session of the first Silk Road(Dunhuang) International Cultural Exposition——the B&R Union Forum was hosted in Dunhuang on September 18th. Pres. Wang Cheng of Lanzhou University(LZU) hosted the forum.

The forum was organized by LZU and other universities. According to the regulations of the University Union, The One Belt, One Road Initiative union colleges council, which was summoned and hosted by LZU, passed the decision that 79 universities including USTC, SEU, SU, HKUST, MCU joined the college union as new members on September 17th. The number of the universities in the union college increased from 47 to 126. It covered 23 countries in 6 continents, including Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, South America and so on, which remarked the One Belt One Road Initiative union college stepping on a new stage. 

Pres. Wang Cheng met Prof. Ivan Davies, the vice-president of the Swansea University and Prof. Li Hangwei, the vice-president of the HKUST during the forum. They reached an agreement on cooperating and building the joint research center. Pres. Wang, on be half of LZU, signed the cooperating memorandum of understanding and postgraduate training agreement.  

Pres. Wangcheng also held a conference with Prof. Belamf, the vice-president of the Azerbaijan State Economic University, the vice-president of the Kyrgyzstan Osh Technological University and Prof. Zhou Weili, the vice- president of the Hongkong Baptist University. They agreed unanimously to strengthen the educational and cultural communication in related areas and to fulfill the project of scientific collaboration and students exchange. They also had a consensus on declaring the project of “Thousands of Talents” with Hongkong Chinese University and Hongkong Baptist University.

The experts of University of Skovde, Indian Zurlini University and Kyrgyzstan Osh technological University came to LZU and talk to some related apartments about promoting the corporation between schools after the forum.
