LZU holds large concert to commemorate 80th anniversary of Long March’s victory

A large symphony and chorus concert named Long March Suite was held by Lanzhou University to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Long March* on 17th, October in the new gym at headquarters. LZU Distance Chorus undertook the place of lead singing in this concert, and students’ symphony orchestra came from the symphony accompaniment of Lanzhou No.14 Middle School.

 

Lyric took audience back to those war-ridden years. From January 15th to 17th, 1935, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a meeting at Zunyi Guizhou Province, , which remained a critical turning point for CPC’s future, and also marked CPC’s maturity.

The wonderful performance filled audience’ eyes with tears. The prolonged applauses were presented to the performers at the end of every song. After the concert, some audience still lingered at the hall , recalling the exciting performance.

* Long March: a strategic shift of military power made by the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army (1928-1937) led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), aiming at preserving the effective strength for revolution and improving the public awareness of CPC’s revolutionary ideas. The Long March, stretching 25,000 li in just two years, is crowned as the key turning point of China’s revolution and the miracle in human history. Long March Suite is created by Xiao Hua, a celebrated artist and also a general to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the victory of the Long March.
