Pres. Wang attends round-table conference of Sino-Indian university presidents

The Round-Table conference of Sino-Indian University Presidents was held in Peking University on May 26th. Both Pranab Mukherjee, the President of the Republic of India, and Yuan Guiren, the China’s  Education Minister, attended the Conference. Meanwhile, presidents from more than 20 top universities from the two countries, such as Lanzhou University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institutes of Management, India Gujarat Central University and so on, took part in the meeting.

On the two forum named by “Scientific Research: building world-class universities and disciplines” and “Education: motivating innovation and entrepreneurship” respectively, every president was assigned to give a keynote speech in terms of one sub-topic  to shed light on mutual communication and discussion. President Wang was invited to deliver a speech on “strengthening Sino-India Educational Exchange and Promoting Innovation Ability”, belonging to the sub forum of “Education: motivating innovation and entrepreneurship”. In his speech, not only he introduced the great efforts made by LZU in deepening reforms in innovation and entrepreneurship education , as well as in improving the quality of talents cultivation, but also illustrated them by specific cases of our teachers and students.  Moreover, he also recalled the cooperation with India Universities in scholar visiting, academic and cultural exchange and foreign students education  , and expressed his sincere expectation of further cooperation in IT, software engineering and agriculture ecology with Indian universities and scientific institutes. The speech delivered by President Wang was  highly appreciated by Presidents and audiences at the conference.

University Presidents belongs to one of the activities that Indian President Pranab Mukherjee planed during his visiting to China. . On the morning of May 26th, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee visited Peking University and attended this conference. Under the witness of the President Mukherjee and Minister Yuan, presidents and representatives from universities attending the meeting signed formal cooperation agreements on subsequent exchanges and mutual assistance.
