Fu Bojie, academician, and the chairman of the Geological Society of China, visits LZU

On the invitation of Chen Fahu, academician and the director of The Key Laboratory of Western China’s Environmental Systems, Fu Bojie, the chairman of the Geological Society of China, visited LZU on the morning of Jan. 19th for academic exchanges and delivered an academic report titled Approaches and Methods for Comprehensive Study of Geology. Chairman Fu is also the director of Department of Earth Sciences, National Natural Sciences Foundation of China, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician of the Third World Academy of Sciences, and researcher of Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences. 

The report consists of following four aspects:
1.Features and tasks of geology,
2.Methods for geology,
3.Development of geology in the new period: Future Earth research plan,
4.Case study for comprehensive study methods for geology.

The report also stated that the concept of comprehensive and systematic geology is the scientific trend for Future Earth, and that scientists in the field should shoulder the task of "explaining the past, serve the present and predict the future". LZU, with its unique geological position, will exert essential influences on the construction of the Road and Belt Initiative1The university will continue to build a talent training mechanism centered by national key disciplines to meet the country’s demand and to follow international science frontier.
