The 9th Congress of CGS (Chinese Grassland Society), together with its national symposium was held at Beijing during 9th to 11th , December, 2016.
During the forum, CGS elected its 9th Council, among which Academician Ren Jizhou took the position as its senior consultant, Academician Nan Zhibiao as its chief scientist, Prof. Hou Fujiang succeed as its vice chairman, Prof. Shen Yuying as its executive director, and Prof. Wang Suoming, Prof. Li Chunjie and Prof. Lin Huilong as its directors. All of them are from SPST (School of Prataculture Science and Technology) of LZU.
Workshop for Grassland Agriculture Science and Technology during the 13th Five-year Plan was also held during the symposium, which was divided into four parallel sessions, namely, grass breeding and biological technology, pastoral resources management and protection, grass production and processing, as well as the eco-civilization construction and prataculture and husbandry. Prof. Hou, Prof. Wang and Prof. Shen delivered reports at the sessions entitled Management of Alpine Meadow Grazing System, Application of Dessert Grassland Xerophyte Stress-resistant Gene to Genetic Improvement of Lucerne, and Study of Winter Wheat to Grain and Feed Purpose respectively. Prof. Li Chunjie presided at Pastoral Resources Management and Protection, one of the parallel sessions.
