Belt and Road International Microbiome Forum was held from April 14th to 16th in Lanzhou under the auspices of Institute of Microbiology of Chinese Academy of Science, and Environmental Microbiology Committee of Chinese Society for Microbiology, and under the undertaking of School of Life Sciences of LZU, and Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Cell Activities and Stress Adaptations. The topic of this forum is the Belt And Road Initiative and the Microbiome: opportunities of regional cooperation for a win-win future.
At the opening ceremony, Li Jia, dean of School of Life Sciences of LZU,gave a brief introduction to the cooperative foundation of LZU and the Belt and Road related countries. He also showed his aspirations to cooperate with other domestic college research institutes to co-promote the study on microbiome of Belt and Road.
The Belt and Road Initiative comprises Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road which boasts abundant microbiological resources. Currently, the microbiome has become one of the hot spots in life science study, and China’s research plan of the microbiome is under the preparation. International cooperation plays a pivotal rolein the success of the microbiome plan. What’s more, the regional cooperation among the Belt and Road related countries has more advantages to promote the development of science, which also accords with the present national needs of China.
