LZU attends meeting on building of Confucius Institute in Tashkent

Trilateral meeting on the building of Confucius Institute co-built by LZU was held at Confucius Institute in Tashkent from May 26th to 29th. Members of the board of Confucius Institute from China and foreign countries attended the meeting.

The ambassador of Embassy of China in Uzbekistan Sun Lijie, President of Tashken State Institute of Oriental Studies Manan Nove and Vice President of LZU Pan Baotian attended the opening ceremony of the joint conference and made speeches.

During his speech, Sun Lijie said that having signed with Tashken State Institute of Oriental Studies in 2004 to jointly build the first Confucius Constitute in the world, LZU has become the pioneer of establishing Confucius Constitute. Under the background of the Belt and Road (B&R) development strategy, we need to make joint efforts to promote the development of Confucius Constitute and boost great communication and cooperation between countries along B&R so as to realize regional common development and mutual benefits.

Manan Nove expressed congratulations to the success of the joint conference. He stressed that the friendship between China and Uzbekistan goes way back. The meeting and multilateral exchange on the establishment of colleges between China and foreign countries contributed to mutual understanding, improvement and advancement among Confucius Institutes.

During the meeting, Pan Baotian summarized that the attendances of presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhanstan in the just-ended Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation demonstrate the two countries' identification and support to the construction of B&R. Confucius Institutes should be the ties which can accelerate the cooperation and mutual benefits, and lay the foundation of the construction of B&R.

In the plenary session, participants retrospected the work of 2016 and introduced the plan of 2017 for each Confucius Institute.
