The Fifth International Conference on Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) in West China was held under the auspices of School of Mathematics and Statistics of LZU and Key Laboratory of Applied Mathematics and Complex Systems in Gansu from August 4th to 6th in LZU, subsidized by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Applied Mathematics and Complex Systems team of Mathematics and Statistics School of LZU, and Chinese Mathematical Society.
Those who attended the Conference were more than 200 scholars from 50 universities, ranking the largest compared with the previous conferences. Among these, over 180 representatives are from Sichuan University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chongqing University, Lanzhou University, etc.. in West China, and over 30 professors from the Ohio State University, University of Georgia in America, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Fudan University, Nanjing University, Sun Yat-sen University, etc..
Thirty-four reporters gave an account of their research achievements including one academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, three winners of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. Besides, several distinguished scholars presided over academic symposium and made comments on relevant academic reports.
It is said that the Conference is assigned to the serial academic gathering initiated by Prof. Xin Zhouping from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which was previously held in Xi’an, Chengdu, Kunming, and Chongqing from 2013 to 2016. These conferences have gained full supports and active participation from various scholars, which played a pivotal role to the growth of young high-tech talents. In addition, this conference has presented research achievements of scholars in West China in this field and offered a platform for research cooperation among varied scholars.
