On June 24, the leading universities meeting of China-Arab Universities “10+10” Cooperation Plan was held in Amman, Jordan. President Yan Chunhua, vice president of China Association of Higher Education （CAHE）, director of China-Arab Consortium of Universities Exchange Mechanism, Amr Ezzat Salama, secretary general of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), Chen Chuandong， Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Li Yansong， executive director of the Mechanism and president of Shanghai International Studies University attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Hao Qingjie, deputy secretary general of the CAHE and Walid Salaman, senior advisor of the AArU, read out the declaration of cooperation.
Yan Chunhua noted bilateral educational exchanges and cooperation, as an important part of China-Arab relations, have maintained a strong development momentum and played an important role in enhancing mutual understanding between Chinese and Arab people. He hoped that the leading universities will jointly promote the construction of the mechanism so as to strengthen cooperation. He said that we should promote scientific research cooperation with mutual benefits, advance dialogue and cooperation among the member universities to build brand projects with international influence., pass on the traditional friendship through exchanges and mutual learning, encourage Chinese and Arab universities to jointly hold academic workshops, international conferences and other activities to strengthen interaction between Chinese and Arab students, teachers and scholars. It is also necessary to develop the digital education to empower the mechanism development, lead member universities to carry out practical cooperation on digital transformation, and strengthen the joint construction and sharing of high-quality resources.
The Declaration on Cooperation Among Leading Universities of China-Arab Universities “10+10” Cooperation Plan under the China-Arab Consortium of Universities Exchange Mechanism was issued on the meeting.
During the visit, representatives of Chinese leading universities also visited Jordan University of Science and Technology as well as Al-Hussein Technical University, and exchanged views on talent cultivating, scientific and technological cooperation and academic research.
