Prof. Zhou Youhe with his team attends 25th International Conference on Magnet Technology in Holland

The 25th International Conference on Magnet Technology, co-hosted by University of Twente and High Field Magnet Laboratory in Holland, was held in Amsterdam National Conference Center from August 27 to September 1. On receiving the invitation from Prof. Herman ten Kate, chairman of the conference, Prof. Zhou Youhe, dean of School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics in LZU, along with 6 members of his team, attended this meeting. What’s more, Prof. Zhou is the specially-appointed professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program for Ministry of Education, National Distinguished Young Scholars, leaders of National Creative Research Groups in mechanics.

With more than 1,000 participants, the conference concentrated on the scientific and technical problems in research, design and analysis, and test and operating of superconducting magnets such as nuclear fusion, large hadron collider, and large-scale electrical machines. And 198 oral academic presentations and 739 poster presentations were made during the conference. Prof. Zhou Youhe and his research team on structural mechanics of superconducting electromagnetism presented three oral  academic reports, which included  “Quench Propagation and Degradation Limits of Pre-strained HTS Tapes Triggered by a Spot Heater” made by Prof .Wang Shengzhe, “Mechanical-electric Model for Multifilament Composite Superconducting Strands” made by Prof. Gao Yuanwen, and “Analytical Investigation in Bending Characteristic of Pre-twisted HTS Tapes” made by Dr. Wurui, young teacher in LZU. Through the report, they introduced and discussed research advance in structural mechanics of superconducting electromagnetism, a special field in mechanics, that LZU has achieved. During the meeting, Prof. Zhou Youhe communicated with other international counterparts thoroughly upon the fundamental problems in designing and operating the structure of superconducting magnets that related to mechanics. Besides, two doctoral candidates also attended the meeting and participated in the poster presentation and discussion as well.
