LZU Hydrogen Energy and Low Carbon Center Launched

On June 7, the Hydrogen Energy and Low Carbon Lanzhou Forum 2025 was held at Lanzhou University (LZU). Nearly 300 experts and scholars in the field convened at the forum and engaged in in-depth discussions on technological innovations and industrial development of the production, storage, transportation, refueling and utilization of green hydrogen energy. Together, they explored the prospects of energy transition and low-carbon, high-end industrial development. At the forum, the Hydrogen Energy and Low Carbon Center of LZU was officially launched.

The center functions as a substantive scientific research institution jointly headed by Professor Li Can, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Yang Yongping, President of LZU. It carries our organized scientific research to tackle key problems through goal-oriented and task-driven approaches. Focusing on international frontiers and national strategic needs, the center aims to meet the development demands of major energy base in western China. By leveraging LZU’s strengths in new energy and low-carbon research, and taking advantage of Gansu’s abundant wind and solar resources, it will build a hydrogen and low-carbon innovation hub with distinctive western regional characteristics.
