College students’ drama troupe of LZU performed their original drama called “Jiang Longji -- From Peking University to Lanzhou University” twice for freshers of 2017, which was performed at the Wenxin Hall in Yuzhong Campus both on the afternoon and the evening of September 21. As an important part of entrance education for its freshmen, this show was designed by LZU in order to help freshers learn from older generations’ example, allowing them to learn LZU’s spirit of “Be strong and be unique” and teaching them to understand, love and honour LZU.
Orchestrated by teachers and students of the college students’ drama troupe of LZU, this large-scale original drama joins music, performance, recitation and some other multi-media elements. The performance mainly focused on Mr. Jiang’s job transferring from Peking University to Lanzhou University, educational thought and family life, presenting us the last extraordinary 14 years of Mr. Jiang’s education career.
When referring to the significance of the performance, director Guo Weilun said, “we want to express our respect and love to Pres. Jiang Longji through our performance, and we hope to inherit and carry forward the spirit of Lanzhou University -- namely “embrace the world while in the northwest of China” in such a form. This show won the warm applause of the audience, and all freshers were touched by the moral power of the old principal.
