From September 27 to October 9, at the invitation of the Open University of Georgia, the research group from “Silk Road Art Exchange between China and Others” went to Georgia for a task survey and academic exchange. It is a major project launched by National Social Science, with Prof. Cheng Jincheng as its chief expert.
This group investigated world cultural heritage in Georgia, including History Museum, the National Gallery of art, Art museum, Open-air Folk Museum, Kutaisi History Museumin and Bagrat church. Meanwhile, they made an academic exchange with the researchers of Silk Road Art. The journey has an important significance to the advancement of this project.
During this trip, the group established a contact with some sinologists and Silk Road Art experts. In addition, together with “Georgia National Award” winner Liu Guangwen, Georgia's famous Sinologist and translator, they discussed the matters of cooperation, learned about Georgian Silk Museum, tapestry art, historical and cultural sites, also collected some important research data.
