From October 20 to 22, the 16th National Symposium of Young Geographers (NSYG) was held in Anhui Province. Academician Chen Fahu and Associate Professor Zhang Zilong from LZU attended the event. Apart from the keynote lecture, the symposium also presented two themed salons - “Editors’ F2F Talk” and “Postgraduate Salon”, three special salons entitled “Integrated Approaches to Physical Geography”, “Hotspots in Human Geography” and “New Paradigm of Geographic Information Science under Big Geographic Data”, and other 8 seminars. Besides, a debate themed “Back to Geography” was also included in this important symposium.
Prof. Chen was invited to give a keynote speech entitled “Holocene Dust Storm History and Changes of Summer Monsoon in East Asia”, sparking keen attention and intensive debates over scholar present. Prof. Zhang presided at the seminar “Research Hotspots in Economic Geography”, and then gave his special report “Urban Economic Growth and Environmental Pollution: The Comparative Analysis on Influence Path and Cross Scale”, at another themed seminar “Research Hotspots of Urbanization”.
