LZUers attend 2017 China Grass Society Annual Meeting

From November 5 to 8, the "2017 Annual Meeting of Chinese Grass Society", hosted by China Grassland Society and undertaken by South China Agricultural University, was held in Guangzhou. More than 800 leaders, experts and scholars, business representatives and graduate students from grassland science field across the country participated in the conference. Nan Zhibiao, the Academician of LZU, He Xinti, Chairman of Chinese Grassland Society, and Toshihiko Yamada, the professor of Hokkaido University and representative of Japanese Grass Society, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Yingjun, secretary general of Chinese Grass Society.

The opening ceremony included the 2016 annual "Grass Science Wang Dong scholarship" award ceremony, in which Academician Nan Zhibiao gave a speech as the director of management committee for the scholarship.

Focused on the theme of "Scientific and Technological Innovation of Grassland under the Structural Reform of Agricultural Supply-side in China", the conference arranged 153 forum reports. More than 50 teachers and students sent by College of Grassland Science and Technology of LZU attended the meeting, exchanging and speaking respectively in the four forums - "Food to Feed Technology Model and Utilization", "Grassland Resources and Utilization", "Germplasm Innovation and Breeding" and "International Lawn Symposium”. Shen Yuying and Li Chunjie presided over the chapter of "Grassland Resources and Utilization" Forum separately.

Based on the wish of green China, participants discussed the focus and hot issues of grassland ecological protection and modern grass and animal husbandry development, unveiling the latest achievements and progress of grassland research in China, and promoting the exchanges and cooperation between scientific researchers and stakeholders in grass-related fields.
