On the afternoon of June 9th, the activity named LZUers gathering together in Lanzhou International Marathon kicked off in LZU to form the LZU running team, and 748 members of LZU showed up in the eve of the marathon. Together with nearly 40,000 participants, they will carry out the philosophy of national fitness and show the spirit of LZU. The running team contains faculty, students, alumni from around the world as well as the second generation of LZUers, among whom, the oldest is 74 while the youngest 3 years old. All the school authorities, principle assistants, leaders of relevant departments and schools and members of LZU running team participated the launching ceremony, which was hosted by Li Zhengyuan, deputy Party secretary of LZU.
Pres. Yan Chunhua said in the opening speech that hundreds of LZU alumni from around the world gathered together to join in the Lanzhou International Marathon for the same name —— LZUer. He noted that the construction of double first-class of LZU depended on our joint efforts. He hoped that everyone could continue to be concerned about the development of LZU and alumni around the world could work together to create a better future for LZU.
Yuan Zhanting, Party secretary of LZU, gave the flag to Ding Dapan, the representative of LZU running team flag-bearer, alumni of 2004 as well as the general secretary of LZU Alumni Association in Sichuan. Then all members of LZU running team participated in the activity dressed in the custom-made T-shirt and visor cap in limited edition of LZU. And those who finished the brisk walking journey got an exclusive medal of LZU.
It is said that LZU will celebrate its 110th anniversary in 2019 and the launching activity is made to further agglomerate faculty, students and alumni of LZU to gather the strength and focus of alumni around the world to promote LZU’s development.
