Lanzhou University team approved in EU Horizon 2020

As the Third Country Partner, prof. Long Ruijun and associate prof. Ding Luming of the International Center for Tibetan Plateau Ecosystem Management of LZU applied for the participation of Horizon 2020 for their project Cooperative Innovation to Realize Mountain Inclusion Co-innovating for Inclusive and Sustainable Development in Highland), and it was approved.

This project was jointly announced by French Agricultural Development Research Center (CIRAD) in collaboration with 33 research institutes from 24 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. The project aims at innovating the mechanism of Research and Innovation Staff Exchange on the basis of scientific research cooperation. Therefore, it will provide 280 scholars with 539-month long fully financed research positions within three years to go to collaborative research institutes to conduct research and exchange.

At the same time, LZU will admit 14 scholars from Austria, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, the United Kingdom and France to work on the issue of inclusive and sustainable development in the Qilian Mountain for twenty-eight months. LZU will also send 6 people to work in collaborative institutes in France, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal and Austria for ten months. Prof. Long Ruijun is one of the seven members of the project’s Monitoring & Evaluation Committee. Other members include the chairman of the British National Committee for Man and the Biosphere Program, president of UNESCO Sustainable Development of Highland--prof. Martin Price; and the former vice president of French Academy of Agricultural Sciences ( INRA), current president of French Agriculture International Policy--prof. Bernard Hubert.
