LZU wins “President Cup” in 9th University Games of China

 

 

 

 

 

From September 8th to 18th, the Ninth University Games of China was held in Tianjin. By the afternoon of September 12th, all the games of martial arts had been over. In the fierce competition, our high level martial arts team has achieved the best results in all the sessions’ University Games of China so far, i.e. they altogether won two golden medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medals; the team took the fourth place in one competition, the fifth place in two competitions, the sixth place in two competitions, and the seventh place in two competitions; in Group B, the team’s total points won the championship, the girls’ total points won the championship, and the boys’ total points took the fifth place.

After high level martial arts team achieved great results, high level track and field team achieved one silver medal and one bronze medal, and took the fourth place in one event, the fifth place in two events, the seventh place in one event. High level women's volleyball team also got great achievements by winning over the teams from Sichuan, Henan, Shaanxi, Yunnan, etc. Delegation of Gansu province won the "Sports Moral Award". On the evening of September 18th, the Ninth University Games of China was rounded off at the gymnasium in Tianjin Polytechnic University. Lanzhou University won the "President Cup" in the Ninth University Games of CHINA, as the only university in western China to obtain the honor.

Previously on September 12th, Wang Hansong, secretary-general of the LZU CPC Committee, had been to Tianjin Normal University and Nankai University respectively to visit all the athletes and coaches of the martial arts team and the women's volleyball team of LZU, accompanied by An Lizhe, deputy head of Gansu province delegation and vice president of LZU, and congratulated the athletes on achieving good results on behalf of LZU.

It is reported that this session of university games of China was hosted by Ministry of Education, the State Sports General Administration of China and the Communist Youth League Central Committee, with a total of 34 participating units and 12 competitions. Gansu delegation participated in the games of track and field, martial arts, women's volleyball and aerobics. The 10th University Games of China will be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province in 2016.
