On October 19, the fourth Climbing Contest of International Students was held in Gaolan Mountain by the School of International Cultural Exchange. Nearly 150 foreign students and several Chinese teachers participated in the race.
After about 30 minutes, the Kazakhstan student JINLIROV RAKHIM first reached the top of the mountain and claimed the first prize for male students. A little while later, the Russian student PAVLOVA IULIA reached the top and claimed the first prize for female students. Some other foreign students didn’t lose heart and reached the top one after another.
After the climbing race, we also held many interesting activities for foreign students. They danced to their national music, sang their folk songs, played traditional Chinese rope skipping and kicking shuttlecock, their enthusiasm and laughter attracted many local people to join in.
This activity allows those foreign students who come to Lanzhou for the first time to get more first-hand knowledge of the city and the people living here, which helped them to adjust themselves to the new life better.
“I got to know a lot of foreign friends and Chinese friends. This is going to be great memory,” a France student said. Many students talked to the organizing teachers and thanked them for the event.
