On November 18, the opening ceremony of “Meteorological Expertise Training Class” was held in Lecture Hall 2009 in Guanyun Building by the College of Atmospheric Sciences Lanzhou University (LZU) and the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Bureau, marking as a prelude to the cooperation between the college and the bureau.
A group of 9 headed by deputy director Ulan Battelle of the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Bureau and party secretary Lei Xiaoyun, Dean Huang Jianping and other members of the leadership from the College of Atmospheric Sciences, LZU attended the ceremony. 49 members from each sector of the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Bureau attended the ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by deputy director Mao Guoliang from the College of Atmospheric Sciences, LZU.
Party secretary Lei Xiaoyun from the college reviewed the cooperation between the college and the meteorological bureau, confirmed the achievements in recent years and sent best wishes to the students. She referred that the students of the training class should first abide by the college disciplines and classroom rules, try their best to be superior students and maintain good learning atmosphere in the training class. Besides, students should attach importance to this session of training, respect teachers, seek for knowledge with modesty and carry out learning tasks seriously. Moreover, students should apply knowledge into practice, accumulate experience through practice and improve capabilities.
Ulan Battelle introduced the achievements made by the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Bureau in recent years. He believed that the achievements are closely related to the cooperation between the bureau and the college. On the basis of the “open, complimentary and mutual beneficial” circumstances, the “Meteorological Expertise Training Class” represents further cooperation between the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Administration and the College of Atmospheric Sciences. He also informed the students to treasure the learning opportunity, stick to solidarity and self-discipline, strive to improve professional ability and make use of what they learned.
After that, the college hosted a forum on the cooperation between the college and the meteorological bureau. With consensus on personnel training, scientific research and resource sharing etc., Huang Jianping and Ulan Battelle jointly signed the “Agreement on Cooperation between the College of Atmospheric Sciences Lanzhou University and the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Bureau”. Huang Jianping referred in the speech that the signing ceremony was held under repeated consultations between the College of Atmospheric Sciences LZU and the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Bureau and that the signing of the cooperation agreement is an important step to promote the development of the meteorological cause and innovate the personnel training model. Besides, only by enhancing the innovation of the personnel training model, can the college make breakthroughs in the training of high-level talents and teaching and research. Only by continuously carrying out the “Administration-School Cooperation”, can we introduce upstanding talents with rich theoretical knowledge and good practical ability to each local meteorological institution.
The cooperation between the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Bureau and the College of Atmospheric Sciences LZU started from 2004. Before that, the college had trained many high-level meteorological talents for the bureau through holding “3+1” undergraduate training class and providing postgraduate courses on meteorological expertise.
