Recently, the thesis on latest achievements made on chiral drug chemistry written by Doctorate Yang Dongxu and Wang Linqing, with Professor Wang Rui as corresponding author, was issued by the “Angewandte Chemie” (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 2015, 54, 2185-2189, with highest impact factor of 13.455 and five-year average impact factor of 11.700). The research received high evaluation among editors and reviewers and was elected as the copy story of the journal. In the letter to Professor Wang Rui, the editors referred that: “To be selected as copy story of our journal has been a common goal among researchers. It marks the highest quality of the research done by top researchers.”
The research achievements involve the process of the production of polycyclic and polyol compounds, which possess multiple chiral stereoscopic and potential pharmaceutical value, through the chemical reaction between simple naphthol flat structure and chiral catalyst. The research laid a foundation for the practical research of chiral drugs and polypeptide drugs.
The research on the journal cover (drawn by the authors) is as below:
Chiral phenomenon exists widely in nature and has attracted wide attention in the research and development of modern medicine. The modern scientific chiral research can construct a complex three-dimensional structure with simple molecular structure. It is like the construction of a colorful three-dimensional world with simple pieces of paper by skillful hands. In the construction of drug molecules (compounds), the "skillful hands" is the microcosmic and molecular structural chiral catalyst.
