Dr. Janette Ryan from University of Hull, Dr. Marc Brodie from University of Oxford visit LZU

Invited by Professor Guan Huisheng, from the School of Education, LZU, Dr. Janette Ryan from the Department of Higher Education, University of Hull, Dr. Marc Brodie, dean of the St Hilda's College, University of Oxford came to visit LZU and delivered lectures entitled "Intercultural Approaches to Internationalization of Higher Education in Britain" and "Admission of International Students to Oxford University” on July 17. Teachers and students from the School of Education, School of Foreign Languages and Literatures participated in the seminar, chaired by Professor Guan Huisheng.

After the lecture, a substantial negotiation began, which was mainly about the "2 + 1" double degree cooperative education program of the College of Education of the University of Hull, and the training of LZU’s young teachers in the University of Birmingham (Dr. Ryan served as Senior Supervisor of the China Institute of the University of Birmingham), and University of Hull. Wang Kaixue, secretary of the Party Committee of School of Education, Lu Weiguo, Deputy Director of International Office, Prof. Guan Huisheng from the School of Education, Prof. Ding Shuqin, vice dean, and Prof. Jiang Hongxia, director of the Teaching and Research Department, both from the School of Foreign Languages ​​and Literatures, attended the meeting.

Dr. Janette Ryan introduced the University of Birmingham and the University of Hull, international students’ enrollment of the School of Education, and the tentative cooperative training programs, and provided detailed answers to questions raised by the teachers. The two sides reached a preliminary consensus in the purpose, curriculum and cooperation model of the training programs.

Lu Weiguo made additional remarks on the existing joint training programs of LZU and relevant requirements. The two sides were willing to further cooperative education and training, and hoped that, based on the agreement of cooperative training programs, the two sides would carry out a more detailed consultation on the content of agreement, mutual recognition of credits, enrollment requirements, student management, summer camps, teachers teaching in China and other aspects and discussion on the feasibility of countermeasures to potential problems, so that the both sides could have a better understanding of the requirements of implementing the "2 + 1" project. The two sides agreed to cooperate to accelerate the project implementation after signing the framework agreement.
