Monograph of associate Prof. Shi Fuqi from PSS of LZU published in Germany

Symbolische Prägnanz im Aufbau der Philosophie der symbolischen Formen Ernst Cassirers, a monograph written in German by Associate Prof. Shi Fuqi from Philosophy and Sociology School(PSS) of LZU, was published by Traugott Bautz in Germany recently. With over ten collections in print, Traugott Bautz is a German publisher with its focuses on the edition and publication of books of the humanities,  including philosophy, history and classical studies. Prof. Shi Fuqi’s monograph has been compiled as the 25th volume of the LIBRI VIRIDES collections. 

The monograph, based on the clarification of the theoretical basis of symbolic form philosophy, explores/probes into the history and intension of the concept of “symbolic pregnancy” proposed by Ernst Cassirer, a German philosopher, and its very effectiveness in  his philosophical system, and finally lays a further foundation to the explanation of this concept in“freedom of Spiritual behavior”. The book is the first to conduct a systematic illustration of the concept in the school of Cassirer.

Prof. Shi studied at Universitaet zu Koeln, Germany, as a Dr. jointly cultivated by China and Germany through DAAD. He has studied modern German philosophy, Neo-Kantianism and German culture and philosophy, published several relevant papers, and hosted a Project of the National Social Science Foundation of China and a Project for humanities and social sciences of Department of Education in China. Right now, Prof. Shi is hosting the translation program of Symbolic Form Philosophy in three volumes by Cassirer, published by the Commercial Press.
