on October 26th, 2015, the research findings about arid land expansion of Huang Jianhua’s team , who comes from the College of Atmospheric Sciences, Lanzhou University were published online by Nature Climate Change, sub-magzine of Nature, a prestigious international academic magazine. Their findings were published on the sixth volume, second issue of Nature Climate Change, was and it were put on the cover. Since Nature Climate Change mainly publishes the latest findings and great achievements of climate change in an international scope and it is the first time to publish independent research findings of Chinese scientific and research team on the cover, which demonstrates the approval and attention these findings get from international academic field of climate change.
Climate change is a vital scientific issue that human beings confronted with globally, but the current awareness of this issue frequently focuses on temperature increasing caused by greenhouse gas emissions, while low importance is attached to the arid change of global land. Fortunately, Huang Jianping’s team makes full use of their research findings to deepen human’s understanding of climate crisis from a global perspective and provide referential basis for the aim and implementation in emission reduction.
As a result, this thesis have received hundreds of global media coverage and comments, including Science News, Nature Asia, The Time of Media, The Information and Scientific News Service(SINC), New China, Science and Technology Daily, Guang Ming Daily, etc.
