On July 28th, Gansu provincial government announced that during “13th Five Year Plan ” periods, it would mainly construct about 50 first-class subjects with high academic level, obvious advantage features and strong service ability. It also promised that the key support would be given to the relevant infrastructure needed in high-level universities and first-class discipline construction projects. And it clearly pointed out that the government would support LZU to be constructed as The World Class University.
LZU made full preparation for the construction. It determined 7 projects like “the observation and research internet platform of field science in Northwest China cold and arid regions”. Oriented in the building of first-class team, the training of first-class talents and the output of first-class achievements, LZU condensed the features of the disciplines, optimized the division of disciplines and integrated the advantages to fasten the first-class discipline construction and to promote LZU to be a World Class University as soon as possible. The preponderant disciplines of LZU are as the following: ecology, agrostology, geography, theory of Marx, mathematics, biology, chemistry, ethnology, physics, Chinese history, public management, computer science and technology, mechanics, business administration, Chinese language and literature as well as clinical medicine.
