LZU participates in "Space Gravitational Wave Detection Program"

Since the beginning of 2017, LZU has actively applied to participate in "Taiji Space Program: China’s Space Gravitational Wave Detection Program" led by "Taiji Scientific Alliance". Under the support of school leadership, "LZU Taiji Space Program: Space Gravitational Wave Pre-detection Program" has been approved and funded, in which case theoretical physics research team seized the opportunity to make pilot studies, thereby meeting national major strategic demand.

In only half a year, LZU invited experts who take a lead or work in related fields to give relevant guidance and lectures, set up cooperation with other research institutions as a research team to carry out scientific research work so as to lay a solid foundation for the teachers and students on gravitational wave theory.

Space Gravitational Wave Pre-detection Program involves far-ranging disciplines and front-end technology, including physics, astronomy, cosmology, astrophysics, space science, optics, and microgravity science, space technology, precision measurement, navigation and guidance, aircraft and rail design, which provides a rare opportunity for the development of LZU's physics and related disciplines.

Backed by domestic and foreign colleagues, schools and colleges, some teachers of Theoretical Physics, LZU actively partook in the space gravitational wave detection, enabled everything in good order and well arranged, and scored stage achievements, thus formulating basis for the next-step research. The Institute is actively applying for the establishment of "Gravitational Wave Research Center", strengthening the platform construction and providing a solid support for further research on related projects.
