Dentistry Experts from University of Nevada visit LZU's School of Stomatology

Three world-known experts from School of Dental Medicine in University of Nevada were invited to visit LZU's School of Stomatology from June 30th to July 1st, including Dr..Stanley J. Nelson, Dr.Edward E. Herschaft and Associate Prof. Eve. Chung, who are all engaged in the research on occlusion and temporomandibular joint diseases. They carried out academic exchanges on temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD), headache and community health services.

Dr. Nelson talked about temporomandibularjoint disorders(TMD) from its concept, cause, clinical manifestations to its symptoms, and from masticatory system dysfunction and its correlation with TMD to how to control factors in occlusal force in order to diagnose correctly and treat accordingly. And he also introduced TMD's movement of mandible, allowing teachers and students to understand that the morbidity of TMD spreads across people of all ages. Then Dr. Herschaft analyzed the relationship between the typing of TMD and headache, and described clinical features of the pain in head and neck, identifying the his diagnosis and how to make differential diagnosis. He also introduced the latest research results that ostarthritis of temporomandibular joint has a positive correlation with age. Besides, Dr. Chung analyzed current status of stomatological major from the perspective of community health service. Such a wonderful lecture made by these three professors brought an academic feast for teachers and students of the School of Stomatology. 

Professors, teachers and students have communicated thoroughly and passionately, and the both sides have reached a preliminary agreement on further profound exchanges and cooperation.
