On September 14th, Lanzhou University(LZU)held a symposium with foreign experts working in LZU. President Yan Chunhua, Vice President Gou Xiaohua, and foreign expert representatives as well as heads from the Office of Human Resources, the Academic Affairs Office, the Graduate School, the Social Sciences Administration, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and the School of International Cultural Exchange, attended the symposium. The symposium was chaired by Vice president Gou Xiaohua.
President Yan Chunhua, on behalf of LZU, expressed sincere greetings and gratitude to foreign experts for their contributions to the development of LZU. He encouraged foreign experts to fully showcase their talents, constantly innovate their teaching and scientific research capabilities to enhance the international academic influence of LZU. He said LZU will sincerely listen to the opinions and suggestions of foreign experts on the development of the university and effectively help them solve various difficulties encountered in their work and life. And he hoped all foreign experts could pool their wisdom and work together with Chinese experts to build LZU into an open and inclusive world-class university. Finally, he also expressed the festival wishes for the Mid-Autumn Festival in advance.
Vice president Gou Xiaohua noted in her speech that foreign experts play an indispensable role in the development of internationalization of LZU. She hoped that the activity will enhance the understanding and cooperation of foreign experts as well as the communication and understanding between administrative offices and foreign experts so as to allow foreign experts to better integrate into the work and life in LZU.
Associate Professor Abe Powell Walton from the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures expressed his expectations for work and life at LZU as a newly hired foreign teacher. Then, Professor Pavle Mocilac from the School of Nuclear Science and Technology introduced his achievements in scientific research. Dr. Alexander Efimenko, a foreign language teacher from the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, deeply recalled his 16 years of work and life at LZU and hoped that he could made more students learn Russian and understand Russian culture through his efforts.
