On May 28, Prof. Zheng Xiaojing, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the World Academy of Sciences, director of the Center for Particle-laden Turbulence, Lanzhou University (LZU), received the Eric Reissner Award for her pioneer contribution to climate change and sustainability research by developing computational fluid dynamics and turbulence modeling to study the formation and characteristics of aeolian sand streamers at the 29th International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences (ICCES 2023). The Eric Reissner Award has been awarded 8 times, and so far Prof. Zheng Xiaojing is the only female winner of this Award and the first winner in fluid mechanics.
On the conference, Prof. Zheng Xiaojing was invited to make a report titled “Numerical Simulation and Optimization of Grass Checkerboards”, in which she systematically introduced her team’s research work on the prevention and control of desertification.
