Prof. Huang Jianping Elucidates the Mechanism of the Tibetan Plateau’s Impact on Global Climate

Recently, led by Prof. Huang Jianping, member of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and director of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Western Ecological Safety of Lanzhou University (LZU), the team published a paper entitled “Global Climate Impacts of Land-surface and Atmospheric Processes over the Tibetan Plateau” (a major research achievement) in Reviews of Geophysics, an influential review journal in the field of geosciences. The team is cooperated with Prof. Wu Guoxiong of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, CAS, and other experts and scholars.

The research result was selected as a highlight by Reviews of Geophysics, and Eos, a science news magazine of the American Geophysical Union, provided a special coverage for this paper(https://eos.org/research-spotlights/earths-third-pole-and-its-role-in-global-climate).

The first author is Prof. Huang Jianping, and co-corresponding authors are Prof. Huang Jianping and Prof. Wu Guoxiong. Experts and scholars from LZU, the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, CAS, China Meteorological Administration, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiamen University, Tsinghua University, Sun Yat-sen University, Fudan University, University of Science and Technology of China, and other institutions participated in this work.

The research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
