On October 24, Prof. John Bell, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), and Prof. Ren Yi, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) of the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), visited Lanzhou University (LZU). Vice President Gou Xiaohua met with guests at the Yifu Science Building and held a symposium regarding international scientific research cooperation between the two universities.
Vice President Gou Xiaohua extended warm welcome to the delegation and gave an introduction to LZU in terms of talent cultivation, discipline construction, scientific research, and international exchange. She noted that the Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales Innovation Hub, the Research Centre for Environmental Sciences, the Research Centre for Materials Engineering and Engineering Technology, the Centre for Future Materials, and the Centre for Applied Climate Sciences of USQ have made remarkable achievements and have huge potential and large space for cooperation with the School of Materials and Energy, the College of Atmospheric Sciences, and the College of Ecology of LZU, and hoped that both sides can further foster the cooperation in joint cultivation of undergraduates and graduates, winter and summer short-term programs, and joint scientific research of China-Australia in relevant disciplines.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor John Bell expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from LZU and then gave an overview of USQ. He said that USQ would like to actively cooperate with LZU in relevant academic disciplines and seek for more possibilities of cooperation.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the Electron Microscopy Center and the Key Laboratory of Semi-Arid Climate Change of the Ministry of Education.
