LZU Research Team Proposes New Concept of Constructing Global Semi-arid Ecological Barriers and Climate Governance System

Recently, the research team led by Academician Huang Jianping from the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University (LZU) published a paper entitled “Constructing semi-arid ecological barriers to prevent desertification” in the journal The Innovation Geoscience. The team found that ecological restoration in semi-arid areas of the Yellow River Basin has been significantly improved, demonstrating the enormous potential of proactive regional land policies in mitigating the impact of climate change, and proposed a new concept of constructing global semi-arid ecological barriers and climate governance system.

The first author of the paper is Professor Guan Xiaodan and the corresponding author is Academician Huang Jianping. The research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
