On the morning of Sept. 7, LZU 2017 Fall Semester Opening Ceremony for Undergraduates, along with Military Training Opening Ceremony was held on the square in front of Kunlun Building at Yuzhong Campus. Those attending the ceremony included LZU Party Secretary Yuan Zhanting, President Wang Cheng, LZU Outstanding Alumnus, one of China’s 2016 Ten Economic Figures, Board Chairman of Lonji Ltd., Zhong Baosheng, military training group leader and director of LZU Selection Office of Chinese People's Liberation Army, Colonel Zhang Yucheng, Deputy Party Secretary, Cao Aihui, Vice-president An Lizhe, Xu Shengcheng, Pan Baotian, Gao Xincai, Cao Hong, and Assistant to President, Fan Baojun. The ceremony was presided over by An Lizhe.
At 8: 30, all new students faced up with the inspection of LZU with high spirits. Yuan Zhanting presented the Regimental an official flag. Pres. Wang Cheng gave a speech named Be the Pioneer and Innovator to Lead the Development of Times. On behalf of LZU, he also showed his warm welcome to 4850 new students from 31 provinces of China, his respect to their parents and teacher bringing them up and cultivating them, and his appreciation to officers and soldiers aiding in the military training.
Pres. Wang pointed out that, for 108 years, LZUers have written a large number of splendid passages and blazed their own way of building world-class university in less-developed West China so as to distinguish itself in the world academic palace by diligence, commitment and arduous efforts. The arrival of new students will instill new vitality to such a centenary university. All LZUers shall make innovation by hard work according to realities so as to be the pioneer and innovator to lead the development of times.
