19th LZU’s Postgraduates Voluntary Teacher Group sets off

Hosted by Secretary of Youth Corps Committee of LZU Li Hualong, the departing ceremony of the 19th LZU’s Postgraduates Voluntary Teacher Group was held at Student Center on August 24. LZU vice president Cao Hong, Chairman of Lanzhou Yuanfang Fund Jin Xingyi, who is also an alumnus of School of Basic Medical Sciences of class of 1981 attended the ceremony. Responsible members of LZU Party Committee, representatives of previous voluntary postgraduates and all 19th voluntary teachers consist of postgraduate students were present.

LZU vice-president Cao Hong gave fairly credits to those volunteers who are willing to devote their lives to grass-root places, encouraged the 19th voluntary teacher group  to carry on LZU’s fine spirit and voluntary vigour to better serve local students and teachers, and cultivate  good merits which may do good to the rest of their life.

Jin Xingyi urged volunteers to train the independent spirit; set ambitions and increase social responsibility by mentioning his voluntary experience 31 years ago in Gansu Province. To learn from practice and local people is the most valuable thing one can do in this period.

The 18th postgraduate voluntary student Yang Yuekun shared her experience when she was a voluntary teacher. All the volunteers of 19th Voluntary group made a solemn vow. They took turns to tell their wishes and goals.

After the ceremony, 12 volunteers set off to Liangdang County, Longnan City and Guanghe County, Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Linxia to do their one-year voluntary work.
