13th Cross-Strait & Hong Kong Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Symposium Held in LZU

 The 13th Cross-Strait & Hong Kong Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Symposium was held in LZU from 26 to 30 August. Hosted by LZU, the symposium was jointly undertaken by School of Life Sciences, LZU, China’s Ministry of Education ofKey Laboratory of Cell Activities and Stress Adaptations and Chinese Society for Plant Biology, etc.  Over 200 representatives from 25 units including Academia Sinica, I-Shou University,  Taiwan University, University of Science and Technology of China, Science of Plant Physiology and Ecology, SIBS, CAS and LZU participated in the symposium.

During the symposium, speakers from all units gave 27 academic reports which took agricultural biotechnology as its center and concentrated on three topics: the growth and regulation of plants, plants and adversity and breeding and industrialization. The reports showed the latest development of agricultural biotechnology cross-Straits. Attendances deepened their understandings and built a platform of future academic and industrial cooperation and took a outlook of this field through the academic exchange.

Recently, School of Life Sciences, LZU, also hosted the 18th Plant Genomics in China (19th  to 22nd, August) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong-LZU Joint Academic Seminar (23rd, August). These world-class academic conferences not only established a platform for communication and cooperation, but also promoted the academic influence of relative disciplines such as plant, cell biology of LZU.
