With the deepening of the “Double First-Rate” construction and the clearness of the target of LZU’s internationalization, to do a better job in enrolling the foreign students, the College of International Cultural Exchange has taken coordinated measures and made breakthroughs in enrollment as evidenced by 322 foreign freshmen, among whom, 254 enjoying Chinese Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarship, 78 either enjoying LZU’s President Scholarship or paying tuition fees independently. The project of “The Cultivation of High-end Talents in Biomass Energy Field for Pakistan”---special project of “Silk Road” Chinese Government Scholarship, proposed by LZU has been ratified and enrolled 39 doctoral students who study in an English-speaking environment for the first time. It is estimated that the total amount of the international students can reach up to 600 after new students check in.
During the semester of 2016-2017, the college has actively expanded the market for international students and sent faculties to make promotions in Kyrghyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Laos. It is for the first time that students from Saudi Arabia and Thailand come to LZU for doctor degree. The college has made great efforts in the enrollment advertisements through online platforms, international students’ alumni platform, international activities of some foreign students and schools, academic exchange platform for all kinds of experts, the participation of domestic and international educational exhibition, Confucius Institutes as well as embassies, through which we have improved our international profile. This year, the number of international students applying for our school has increased sharply and students simply applying for Chinese Government Scholarship has been over 1000, which provides a good condition for us to improve the students’ quality.
