They were also hired as pastoral discipline’s chief editor and the executive editor of the Third Edition of Encyclopedia of China respectively.

It is reported that the compilation of Encyclopedia of China is a large-scale publishing project which was set up by the State Council directly and led by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of CPC. This book is a summary of the highest level of China's disciplinary knowledge at present, as well as a significant guidepost of China's scientific and cultural level which reveals China’s comprehensive strength. The Third Edition of Encyclopedia of China includes 103 disciplines and 117 general editorial board members who are the most authoritative scholars in their respective disciplinary areas. With Ren Jizhou and Nan Zhibiao appointed as the editorial board members and designated as pastoral discipline's chief editor and the executive editor of the Third Edition of Encyclopedia of China respectively, it demonstrates that  LZU is the most important and influential institution in China's pastoral science.
