LZU organizes courses for trainees from the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency

Commissioned by the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), approved by China Atomic Energy Agency (Bureau of National Defense Science and Technology), and undertaken by LZU, research group of Prof. Long Ruijun from LZU held a six-week training course for IAEA trainees on the theme "Basics of Animal Nutrition and Related Experimental Skills". The training started from November 1st to December 12th, during which three trainees including Oday Zaid and Ahamed Alqeshawi from Palestine and Ku KOBILA from Papua New Guinea attended the course.

The group developed a detailed training plan for trainees and appointed dedicated teachers as tutors. Teachers, graduate students and foreign students conducted in-depth exchanges and mutual learning on professional knowledge, experimental skills, science and technology and other aspects. During the six-week training, the teachers taught foreign trainees the basic theoretical knowledge of animal nutrition. At the same time, the trainees mastered the routine nutrient analysis, test techniques and related instrumentation in feed through a large number of internships and practical trainings. Prof. Chen Hongli and Dr. Li Qian from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering were invited to give lectures on the basic theoretical knowledge of high performance liquid chromatography and on-machine practical skills.

During the training, the teachers and postgraduates of the group discussed and exchanged ideas with foreign fellows in scientific research and daily life. The trainees praised the academic ability and atmosphere of the laboratory, and IAEA also gave great acclaim and spoke highly of its comprehensive capabilities in the later training evaluation.
