LZU’s Institute for Central Asian Studies selected Chinese University Think Tank Top 100

With a two-year research, Global Think Tank Research Center affiliated with Zhejiang University of Technology, together with China Social Sciences Press, has jointly released the first report on think tank among Chinese universitites, that is “Chinese University Think Tank Development Report (2017)”. The Institute for Central Asian Studies (ICAS) of Lanzhou University was listed to the Top 100 of Chinese University Think Tank.

ICAS’s research on anti-secession theory, Central Asia and Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) have been paid close attention by Academia. The statistics show that two papers of fine quality published by ICAS have been reprinted by XinHua Digest (the online version) and seven papers has been extracted and edited by Chinese Social Science Digest.

ICAS has made significant progress in establishing Think Tank in 2017. Early this year, ICAS has been selected as the council unit of high-end Think Tank cooperation in China-Russia strategic coordination. What’s  more, it has been selected as a council member of Chinese council in Think Tank cooperation of BRICS as well, which is also the only institute being selected in Northwestern China. In June, Afghanistan Research Center applied by ICAS entered the name list of Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) in 2017. So far, ICAS has two centers for International and Regional Studies on Education Ministry level. At the end of 2017, according to the Big Data Centre on “Belt and Road Initiative” of National Information Centre, ICAS has ranked the 8th in the list of  “B&R” University Think Tanks High Impact Universities.. Meanwhile, it has also been selected into the list of “Core center in comprehensive evaluation of Chinese Think Tank 2017”, which was jointly released by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and CASSES.

ICAS has also achieved great advance in scientific achievement. In July 2017, “B&R” special project of the National Social Science Fund of China applied by Prof. Yang Shu has been established. Up to now, only three institutes of the similar project have been established in China. At the end of the year, a paper “Global Governance on Terrorism: Mechanism and its Evaluation” authored by Prof. Zeng Xianghong has been published on the 12thSocial Science in China in 2017. In addition, ICAS has published 3 papers on top-grade periodical on international relations: World Economics and Politics in 2017. According to the statistics, in this year, 6 papers of ICAS has been reprinted in full text on International Politics, the copy edition of the materials from periodicals for reference made by Renmin University of China.
