Lanzhou University stands out in 9th National Undergraduate Mathematics Contest final

From March 24th to 25th, final of the 9th National Undergraduate Mathematics Contest organized by Chinese Mathematical Society was held at Xi'an Jiaotong University. Seven students from LZU entered the final. After fierce competition, LZU won 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 2 third prizes. At this point, the five-month competition was successfully completed.

National Undergraduate Mathematics Contest is held once a year. Since 2009, it has been run for 9 consecutive years. It aims to provide undergraduates a stage to demonstrate their mathematical literacy and thinking. Now it has become the most influential competition among college students with the largest number of participants.

A total of 11,094 students participated in this year’s competition. They were divided into two groups: non-mathematics and mathematics. Besides, the schedule was divided into two stages: preliminary and final. 400 students from all around the country have reached the finals.

In the end, LZU students achieved good grades, won honors for the school, and proved the outstanding quality on its mathematics teaching. Meanwhile, their achievements demonstrated LZU’s emphasis and its effective organization on high-level academic contests such as National Undergraduate Mathematics Contest and Mathematical Modeling Contest.
