Recently, Prof. Yang Shu, from the Central Asian Institute of Lanzhou University, was invited to serve as a member of the Chinese Expert Committee of the People's Daily International Research Center. Prof. Yang Shu, an expert in international issues, has worked hard for many years studying issues on Central Asian and Shanghai Cooperation Organizations, the theory of anti-separatism and Xinjiang issues, and anti-terrorism, and yielded many academic results.
In 2012, Professor Yang Shu was awarded the Shanghai Cooperation Organization 10th Anniversary Medal by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to honor his contribution on the development of the organization. Professor Yang Shu also serves as the vice president of the Sino-Russian Relations Research Association, a member of the "Belt and Road" Think Tank Cooperative Alliance Council, and a member of the Sino-Russian strategic cooperation high-end cooperative think tank.
It is reported that the People's Daily International Research Center was established in September 2017. At the inauguration ceremony, 14 internationally renowned experts from 12 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, Japan, and Australia, became the first members of the Committee of Foreign Experts. The center conducts in-depth research on major international issues, especially those concerning China's politics, economy, security, and strategic interests. At the same time, the center focuses on the development of the Belt and Road initiative, collects thoughts and resource advantages of domestic and foreign experts, scholars, and media counterparts, and sets up cooperation platforms for media and think tanks in various countries to conduct joint interviews and researches.
