The academic salon on prehistoric human activities and environmental changes (PHAEC) in the Tibetan Plateau was convened in Lanzhou University on March 14th. It was organized by the College of Earth Environmental Sciences, LZU, the Key Laboratory of Western China’s Environmental Systems, Ministry of Education, and LZU’s Northwest China and Central Asia environmental archaeology center. Over 20 experts and scholars from LZU, Sichuan University, the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Kunming Institute of Botany of CAS, the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS and Yunnan Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology attended this meeting, and directors of the National Nature Science Foundation of China (NSFC) were present. Chen Fahu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as well as vice-president of LZU, presided over the opening ceremony.
On the promoting session on key projects with international cooperation in the morning, Prof. Li Yu, vice president from the College of Earth Environmental Sciences delivered a welcome speech and introduced the development of the college and their issues and opportunities at present. The academic gathering in the afternoon was hosted by Prof. Dong Guanghui of LZU and Prof. Wen Rui from Northwest University.
The wonderful academic reports showed the research progress on prehistoric human activities and environmental changes in the Tibetan Plateau from various perspectives, presenting a high-level academic feast for teachers and students. The specialists also had heated discussions with teachers and students from LZU for academic exchange. The meeting gained significant accomplishments and played an active role in promoting the research on the prehistoric human-earth relations in the Tibetan Plateau.
