On April 16th, 7 party and government leaders from LZU’s School of Earth and Environmental Sciences payed a visit to the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for cooperation and exchanges. The School aimed to further participate in the second comprehensive scientific investigation and study of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and establish a comprehensive, wide-ranging and multi-level cooperative relationship with the Institute, which will enable the School to further advance its scientific research.
At the meeting, Dean Gou Xiaohua introduced the development history, the basic information of the School and the extensive connections established between the two sides, and elaborated on the preparation for the second Qinghai-Tibet exam on the part of the School’s research staff and the scientific research tasks.
Academician Yao Tandong, director of the Institute, expressed his full support for the School to participate in the second Qinghai-Tibet and Pan-third pole projects. Chen Fahu, deputy director of the Academy, affirmed the School’s participation in the Qinghai-Tibetan Science Examination, and stated that the School should focus on key research areas, train influential teams, find a research direction with core advantages, and promote mutual guidance through cooperation in Pan-third pole scientific research.
The two sides also discussed the details of jointly training graduate students, and reached consensus on organizing cutting-edge academic reports and recommending exemption for graduate students.
