Lanzhou University alumnus Dr. Song Yajie visits alma mater

On March 28th,  Song Yajie, co-founder, head, and senior researcher of the American Institute of Global Environmental Sustainability visited LZU. Pres.Yan Chunhua met with him in the VIP room of science museum, accompanied by vice president Pan Baotian, officials from School of Life Science, School of Management,Alumni Association Office and the International Office.

Yan Chunhua welcomed Song Yajie’s visit and expressed gratitude for his concern and support for LZU. Yan said that the past thirty years had seen great changes in both China and the world. During this period, LZU has made great progress in infrastructure, providing a platform for high-level cooperation and exchange. Despite of the gap between LZU and world-class American universities, multilateral cooperation will remain the tendency and mainstream. He also noted that improvement in ecological environment and poverty alleviation were the current priority of Gangu province and hoped that cooperation between the two sides could be enhanced in jointly applying for relevant projects and cultivating talents, thus contributing to the development of LZU and Gansu province.

Song Yajie recalled his early experience in LZU and Yale University, showing thanks to the guidance and cultivation of LZU and expressing his own feeling about the changes of LZU over the past three decades. He hoped that under the guidance of “Double First Class”objective, both sides could strengthen cooperation to push the LZU’s development toward a new height and enable it to turn on a new look in both China and the world.
