The Fifth National College Student Art Exhibition sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipal People's Government came to a close on April 21st in Shanghai. Finally, the LZU chorus won the first prize for vocal performances, and the recital of Chinese classic “On the Teacher” earned the third prize for drama and recitation.
Themed by "Ideal and Belief", this year's exhibition aims to demonstrate the lofty ideals of the contemporary university students to fulfill the Chinese dream of great rejuvenation of Chinese nation, putting motherland and glorious missions on their shoulders.
The vocal performance was held at Xianghuitang, Fudan University, where the chorus of our school sang two songs of different styles. One was “The River of No Return”, the first Chinese art song, and the other was a choral work "Memory in Water" adapted by our young teacher Yang Kun. Combining traditional and modern elements by inheritance and innovation, they fully demonstrated the unique spirit of LZU, “Constantly Improving,Blazing Our Own Path”, and won the unanimous recognition of the judges and the audience.
The coverage of this national exhibition activity reached 90%. Nearly 10,000 teachers and students from more than 400 colleges and universities attended the six-day event. They came from different provinces, autonomous regions, directly-controlled municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as Hong Kong and Macau.
Currently, National College Student Art Exhibition is the most influential art event for college student in China, with the highest specification and the largest scale. Since 2005, it has been held every three years. The first four were respectively organized by Beijing City, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, and Tianjin City. It is reported that the 6th National College Student Art Exhibition will be hosted by Sichuan Province.
