Hosted by the Gansu Provincial College Committee and Gansu Provincial Department of Education, the 7th session of National Competition for Qualities of University Counselors in Gansu Province was concluded in Lanzhou University of Technology on May 5th. This competition attracted 69 competitors from 47 colleges in Gansu Province. Shi Baizhan, secretary of the Gansu Provincial College Committee and Xia Tiandong, party secretary of Lanzhou University of Technology attended the closing ceremony and awarded the prizes for the winners.
Li Chuanhui, counselor from the School of Life Sciences, and Xia Rui, counselor from the School of Philosophy and Sociology won the first prize, while Lei Yu, counselor from the School of Management won the second prize. This represented LZU’s best track record in this competition, reflecting the excellent theory base, comprehensive qualities and good spirits counselors in LZU.
This competition was divided into two phases, including written examination, case studies, individual talks and displays of theories. The contest gave prominence to the practices and exercises for counselors’ improvement, aiming to strengthen the theoretical base, professional skills and speaking abilities of university counselors and increase the specifics of ideological and political works.
According to the arrangement of leading group and organizing committee, LZU will hold the next session of this competition. Chen Yan, director of the postgraduate affairs office, attended the closing ceremony and delivered a speech on behalf of the undertaker.
LZU has long been committed to the establishment of high moral values and people’s cultivation, and valued the construction of specialized forces of students’ ideological and political establishment. LZU also established a development centre for counselors and 9 teams of distinct functions with 3 platforms for upgrading personal skills.
