Lanzhou University holds International Nurses' Day and commendation conference

To celebrate the 107th International Nurses' Day, carry forward the spirit of Nightingale, commend good examples and encourage nurses to devote themselves to their job, LZU held the International Nurses' Day and commendation conference in the auditorium of student center in LZU’s main campus on the evening of May 9th , with the them of “ Labour, the most glorious thing, Labors, the most beautiful people”. Nearly 1000 people including LZU’s president Yan Chunhua, deputy party secretary Guo Qi, vice president and the dean of School of Medicine Li Yumin, other leaders of relevant medical institutions, nurses, and faculty attended the conference. 

Yan Chunhua hoped that all nursing staff of LZU could bear their responsibility with kindness and hone their professional skills; all affiliated hospitals could strengthen their training of staff and strive to establish a better nursing platform; LZU would work hard to provide a better environment for nursing development; the School of Nursing could promote the coordination with medical research and development and improve the quality of nursing talents. 

On the spot of the conference, 28 nurses, devoting 30 years to nursing, and the winner of 2018 nursing technique operation competition were awarded. Later, an art performance was given by medical staff of LZU, gaining thunderous applause.

LZU boasts nearly 4000 nurses, 245 undergraduates and 71 post-graduates majoring in nursing. In recent years, significant achievements have been made in LZU’s nursing development and a lot of awards have been won. LZU has cultivated a stream of nursing talents with new service philosophy to better suit the the need of modern service, which has made great contributions to the medical and health care development of Gansu province.
